Something was weird about today. I'll chalk it up to just having an off-day, akin to a baseball player going 0-3 with a walk or a sacrifice fly. Not awful, just feeling a little off.

My first run out on my 6.6 and Carve was a little hairy. I had my sail too loose (did all day, actually) and it was hard to control, much more difficult than it normally is. Don't know why I rigged it wrong. I was sailing pretty far out and stopped at an island to put on some more outhaul. Just before I was going to climb off, I hit a couple of rocks and chewed up my fin. So, I sailed back and took 15 minutes to get the big gouges out.

After going back out, my booties started to bother me. They are new cheapos and they felt slippery on the inside. So, I stopped and pulled out the liners. That helped but I also tore one of them so it was unusable. I ended up sailing with only one bootie, which was a little awkward.

The weird thing was that I pulled off more nice jibes, even a couple of decent duck jibes (where I planed through them). I didn't feel "on", but my jibes were pretty good. Going in a straight line was a bit more work, for some reason. The sail didn't want to behave and my footstraps were too loose for my non-bootied foot. I didn't want to change them because they are set well for booties and I will be wearing booties again next time.

An odd day, and possibly my last sailing day before my "one year" anniversary. If so, 104 days of good windsurfing is pretty great for one year, especially considering my busy life. You can't beat living in a warm and windy area with water nearly everywhere. I'm a much better sailor than I expected I'd be by now, and I'm still not done learning. I'm excited by the potential!
