A lovely day spreading the freestyle joy by teaching Kimo his first uw3. Not a whole lot of planing, but still loads of fun!

PSB: Ignoble Hack IPA

I was having a nice session on the lake pretty much by myself, but I was wishing my friends were able to join me. I was experimenting with different fins in my new board to try to improve my upwind performance. Then @ 4p, I saw Laura on the water (she brought with her a few nice gusts). Trying to catch up with her, I got sloppy coming out of a gybe and got pulled over the handlebars by an unexpected gust, and cracked the nose of my new board. Bummer. I quickly switched it out for my Cross 117, but I had to leave soon since I was back on call @5pm. I am glad she made it out there. It was too nice of a day to miss.

What a gorgeous day!  Perfect air and water temperature.  Brian's new sail is AWESOME.  It felt so light, easy to handle, and powerful when needed.  I had fun doing super fast fasttacks and ducking was fun because the mast goes close to the water.  I planed out of a few ducks which was a nice feeling.  Very powered up, but not overpowered.

121-  About as forecast but took awhile to fill in. First session to SI#2 then across IWC to the KRS below the South Cabins tacking back to the shoreline and SI#3 several times trying to get to Boom Point to run the shoreline back.  Didn't quite get there so made a long run back to the launch from SI#3.  While sailing the East Bay saw scattered redfish and one group of 5 stingrays. Second session BAF to SI#1 & #2 with a few more runs along the sandbar.  Overall more planing than holes just about everywhere with fairly good power and powered transitions.  Nice day with about a dozen sailing.

Mistral Wave Score 78L 5.7 worldsail surge '04 S@23mph

The waves started out pretty small (but still steep and fun), then ramped up very quickly throughout the sesh and got even more fun. The current was very low, and great wind direction...which added up to all the rides you could handle. I actually had to focus on doing a lot of wave riding just to not get too far upwind. Conveniently, on my very last run in, the wind let up briefly during this cloud and it made the waves absolutely glassy. I've never sailed on that smooth a wave before but loved it. I didn't need the 5.7 but I didn't regret it either--I had my boom/extension all set up for it from yesterday, and it handles small, so it worked out great. I can't think of a better start to the week than a perfectly lined up sunrise session.

It was a very nice sailable day. Planing was pretty easy. Staying upwind was a beach. I tried so hard to sail as close to the wind the majority of the time without spinning out, but I ended up further and further downwind despite tons of mast foot pressure and only tacking. It was frustrating, since planing was pretty easy. Gybing seemed more fun than usual the rare few I snuck in. I once ended up so far downwind at one point I wondered if I could get back. I was in an area of BIB I had never sailed before and Worldwinds seemed forever upwind. I decided to shlog it back, despite the planing winds, burying the windward rail. That worked, but it was a long shlog. I guess the fin is just too small for the sail in early powered conditions.

On a positive note, my new CC machine rules. Nobody there to show it off to. Gear (140 and 117liter boards, 4sails 5.3-7.5m2, 460 and 430 masts, and 170-230 boom) fits in easily, and I even have better driving visibility than my old minivan. 37mpg down, 45 mpg back. I used cruise control the whole way down only, but wind was probably the biggest factor. I freaking love this car so far.

JP Freestyle Wave 78, '06 5.6 Sailworks Hucker SE@20mph

Couple of kite guys were there when I arrived around 2:45pm - they seemed unsure if they were going out because the wind wasn't meeting their expectations.  They were talking about going to N. Beach.  I just kept rigging.  I figured a big fin with the 5.6 would work well and I was right.  First windsurfer on the water and only three windsurfers showed up all afternoon.  3 kites (including the doubters - who were apparently just as surprised as me that the conditions were much better than they appeared).  I was fully powered, not overpowered and smiling the whole time.  Nice rollers - no breakers.  My most comfortable session ever on the Bay.  Time on the water 2 hrs.     Max Speed:  23.3 mph            Distance windsurfed:  25 miles     2008-miles-to-date: 523

Acid 88 5.9 Icon SE@20mph

Waves 2-4' , not very good form, no rides worth taking.  It was good to get a warm up session in for what will hopefully be an awesome fall/winter season.  It's been almost 3 months since I windsurfed.  OTW-0:37

10/05/2008 (42nd this year) Tamay Tipton @ North Packery Channel
Acid 77 Naish Session 5.3 SE@20mph

Short afternoon session.  It was up and down and onshore but at least we were on the water and it is still warm here.  Not realy any wave rideing.  It was one of those sessions that you are just sailing to stay upwind.

Water started out of a vulcan attempt, but my feet came off the board for a moment. UK rules say no. Canadian rules say yes.

PSB: I'll try to find ya some and I'll bring'em to ya!
